Volkswagen will move production of its internal combustion Golf from its longtime home in Wolfsburg, Germany, to Puebla, Mexico, in 2027 as part of a cost-reduction plan. Moving to Mexico will mark the end of an era for the Golf, which has been produced in Wolfsburg since it debuted in 1974.

Volkswagen is still preparing to launch the next-generation Golf as a fully electric model. The new EV, expected to be called ID Golf, is set to debut around 2028 and will be among the first vehicles to utilize Volkswagen’s next-generation SSP (Scalable Systems Platform), offering 800-volt architecture for faster charging, greater efficiency, and advanced autonomous capabilities.

Nissan has named Ivan Espinosa as its next CEO, selecting a longtime company veteran to lead the automaker through one of the most challenging periods in its history. Espinosa, currently Nissan’s Chief Planning Officer, will take over on April 1, succeeding Makoto Uchida.
